Offstage: Boys just wanna have fun

Offstage - Jayrald, Raymond, Alvin, Joshua, Rodney

They just have to keep on dancing! Ballet Manila artists love their craft so much that even when they’re away from the stage, they end up busting a move, trying out some steps or at least striking a ballet pose or two.

After months spent preparing for the 2016 Asian Grand Prix and the hectic week of the competition itself, Ballet Manila’s 18-member delegation headed to Hong Kong Disneyland for some leisure time. While lining up for one of the thrill rides, trainee Alvin Dictado suggested that he and the other BM boys have their photo taken by the railing. Instantly, he said, everyone executed a tendu – as if they were back in the studio doing their exercises at the barre. Perhaps it’s no wonder then that these boys – (front to back) Jayrald Magat, Raymond Salcedo, Alvin Dictado, Joshua Enciso and Rodney Catubay –  did so well in the AGP competition. Ballet seems to be never far from their mind.
