They just have to keep on dancing! Ballet Manila artists love their craft so much that even when they’re away from the stage, they end up busting a move, trying out some steps or at least striking a ballet pose or two.
Sofia Costales and twins Jasmine Pia Dames and Jessica Pearl Dames have been friends since their elementary school days in Biñan, Laguna. They grew up together and shared a an early passion for ballet. “They are almost like sisters to me!” describes Sofia who says they even attended the same ballet classes at the Rhythm Works Dance School of Joan Bella Alonte. One time, their mentor invited them to dance a variation in an anniversary special of their old school. By then, the trio had gone their separate ways and had not since each other in five years. The reunion was thus much welcomed, bringing back childhood memories and resulting in this throwback pose right before the anniversary recital. “We just randomly held hands like the cygnets in Swan Lake – like what we always did back in the old studio of our elementary school gym!” gushes Sofia, now reunited with the twins at Ballet Manila where she and Pearl are company artists and Pia is a soloist.
