They just have to keep on dancing! Ballet Manila artists love their craft so much that even when they’re away from the stage, they end up busting a move, trying out some steps or at least striking a ballet pose or two.
During the Asian Grand Prix in Hong Kong in August 2015, the company – which was also performing in the competition’s gala shows – took classes at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. On one such session, company artist and photography buff Gerardo Francisco noticed an opportunity for a dramatic shot. He captured Michael Divinagracia in flight – the title, incidentally, of Ballet Manila’s shows in Hong Kong – silhouetted against the stark window frames and the city’s familiar skyline.
