The Lisa Macuja School of Ballet is the only classical ballet education institution in the Philippines that has direct ties with the Russia Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg.\u00a0\u00a0

<\/span>Founded in 1997, the school has always remained steadfast in its adherence to the Russian Vaganova method as the basis of all its instruction.\u00a0 Over the years, the school has welcomed thousands of students in its studios in Pasay and Quezon City; holding recitals twice a year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

The school is one of the early adapters to the online mode of conducting ballet classes; launching a full line-up of classical and contemporary ballet classes taught fully online in April 2020.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

About Lisa Macuja Elizalde <\/span><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Lisa Macuja Elizalde is undoubtedly the most phenomenal ballerina the country has ever produced. She has had an unparalleled career \u2013 30 years of dancing the lead in over 300 full length ballers, performed in 90 cities that span five continents around the globe. She holds the distinction of being the first Filipina graduate of the Vaganova Ballet Academy in 1984 with a red diploma (top of the class) a perfect grade of 5 for Classical Ballet, and the only foreign member of the Kirov Ballet from 1984 \u2013 1986.<\/p>

She was described as \u201cphenomenal\u201d by then Kirov Ballet artistic director Konstantin Sergeyev saying, \u201cA student like Macuja from the Philippines the academy can only get once every fifty years.\u201d<\/p>

Macuja-Elizalde studied under Tatiana Udalenkova while in the Vaganova Ballet Academy and to this day considers Udalenkova as her foremost mentor.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Teacher Training Workshops <\/span><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Teacher Training Workshops of the Lisa Macuja School of Ballet are personally designed by Lisa Macuja Elizalde to equip dance teachers with the cornerstone concepts and vocabulary of the Russian Vaganova method.\u00a0 \u00a0The Vaganova method is a ballet technique and training system developed by the Russian dancer and pedagogue Agrippina Vaganova.\u00a0 The training system is designed to involve the whole body in every movement; with equal attention paid to the upper body, legs, and feet.\u00a0 Years of drilling in the technique result in precision in movement, controlled strength, regal carriage, and exceptional musicality.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

The workshops are meant to be taken sequentially; starting with the beginner class and culminating in the pre-professional class.<\/p>

Immediately available are programmed seminars to train the ballet teacher in the vocabulary and technique of the first five levels of the Vaganova method as taught in the LMSB.\u00a0 Senior and Pre-Professional levels are coming soon.\u00a0 Highly recommended for current teachers in ballet schools who may or may not be already certified from other institutions who wish to have further training and exposure to the Vaganova method and former professional ballet dancers interested in learning how to teach classical ballet in the Vaganova method.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
