They just have to keep on dancing! Ballet Manila artists love their craft so much that even when they’re away from the stage, they end up busting a move, trying out some steps or at least striking a ballet pose or two.

The papal visit was underway in January 2015 and the whole of Metro Manila seemed to be on shutdown mode. Since Ballet Manila also called off work, dancers Joan Emery Sia, Abigail Oliveiro, Jasmine San Juan Llenas and Violet Hong decided to explore the virtually empty streets. While walking along Taft Avenue, at a pedestrian lane in front of De La Salle University, the girls spontaneously decided to do a series of jump shots with Violet as the designated photographer. They made several attempts, not all successful. But this one sure was. And this is how ballerinas do a jump shot. As Abigail laughingly says, “It always somehow turns out related to ballet.”
